The closets in the house are filled to capacity and you’ve used all available space inside of your garage. It’s time to consider purchasing an outdoor storage shed. But how do you decide which is the best type of shed for your use?

The first step is to decide exactly how much space you will need. Are you planning to just store tools and other smaller items or larger items such as a riding lawn mower and other sizeable machinery? Storage sheds run the gamut in size from a small utility building to a large barn cabin style. Additionally, if you reside in a community with a homeowners association, check into any required guidelines for the shed as well as any city ordinances. Some larger sheds may require a building permit from the city.

Storage sheds come in a variety of materials such as vinyl, metal, or wood. Wood sheds, however, are the best when it comes to quality and durability. There are many styles available such as barn or ranch with options like windows, double doors, and skylights.
